9/8/2008 - We Can Now Take Your Tips Via Text Messaging

Heartland Crime Stoppers has adopted a new way to accept your tips and still guarantee your anonymity.  You can now text message us!  We do not get any of your cell phone information and should we have questions we can text message you back for clarification.  This is just another way Crime Stoppers is attempting to provide the latest technology for you, our customers!

Simply text "TIP196" with your tip information to CRIMES.  The prefix of TIP196 is so the tip information is routed to our program.  There are hundreds of Crime Stopper programs throughout the country participating in this text messaging program, so the prefix of TIP196 is needed in order for your local Crime Stopper organization to receive your tip information.

Happy Texting!

Playing Cards that ask:
Do you know who killed me?
&
Offering at-risk youth an alternative to crime:  Starting their own business!

NEW YORK-December 12, 2009:   I know most people don`t want to think about crime and violence right now, as we`re deep into the month  of December -- a month with great spiritual significance.  But, I`ve got two topics on the show this week that I think you`ll find very positive.

In my first segment, I`ll be talking about a unique deck of playing cards, which, in addition to the usual clubs, spades, hearts and diamonds, also feature the pictures of victims of unsolved homicides, missing persons or wanted fugitives.  Each card asks: Do you know who killed me?  or Do you know where I am?  or Do you know something about me?

They`re distributed to prisons all around the country (and even some in Canada) and, as the prisoners play card games the smiling faces of these unaccounted-for victims flash before their eyes -- with the unspoken hope that the prisoners will interrupt their game, take a closer look at a card...and call in a tip.  The results have been amazing!

My guests for this segment are  Robert Wagner, Operations Manager of Effective Playing Cards & Publications, which has produced more than 60 of these Cold Case Decks and M. Wayne Cross, Executive Director of the Heartland Crime Stoppers, part of Crime Stoppers USA organization which sponsors the decks nationwide.

In my second segment, I`m going to introduce you to Steven Mariotti.  After being a mugged in 1981, Steven quit his job, changed his life and founded the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship  which, to date, has taught entrepreneurial skills to more than 230,000 young people from low-income communities all over the U.S. and around the world.  He`s considered one of the leading experts in education for at-risk youth and says, "If low-income youth are given the opportunity to learn about entrepreneurship, their innate `street smarts` can easily develop into academic smarts and business smarts."

IT`D BE A CRIME NOT TO LISTEN!

Here`s how to tune in:
