Credit Card Fraud, Lakeland

Shopping can be a real pain, especially when you have to spend a lot of dough.

A Lakeland man really didn’t like it when he purchased nearly two hundred dollars’ worth of items recently…mostly because it was someone else spending HIS money with HIS debit card and without HIS permission.

Our victim wasn’t even aware that he had lost his card; he discovered fraudulent transactions while checking his account online (which we highly recommend doing often). He reported that there were seven total charges that he knew nothing about, and he immediately cancelled the card once he discovered the problem.

There were charges at 7-Eleven, Harvey’s Market, Family Dollar, McDonald’s, McDonald’s again, China Chens, and McDonald’s again. Clue #1: Our bad guy likes McDonald’s.
Our detective visited the locations where our bad guy was conducting his bad guy business and came away with Clue #2: Pictures of the man who was using the debit card.

With many crimes, clues don’t tell the whole story. That’s where tips come in.

Our detective is asking for someone to let us know who is in these pictures. If you recognize the guy, or if you have some other bit of information that might be helpful, please contact Detective Ryan at 863-577-1629. If you have information regarding a crime and wish to remain anonymous, contact Heartland Crime Stoppers - call 1-800-226 TIPS (8477), visit the website www.heartlandcrimestoppers.com and click on "Submit A Tip," or download the free "P3tips" app on your smartphone or tablet. You will always remain anonymous and you may be eligible for a cash reward if your information leads to an arrest. Your information will be forwarded to law enforcement for follow up. If an arrest is made based on your tip, you are eligible for a cash reward of up to $3,000.

Fradulent Use of Credit Card
November 16, 2019

On Wednesday, October 16th, Mr. C’s wallet disappeared. He told deputies that someone either took it from his vehicle or residence near Spirit Lake in Winter Haven. But he did know that someone had it, and more importantly, they were using his credit card that was in his wallet.

Mr. C was notified by his bank of fraudulent activity so he stopped all transactions.

Our detective contacted the banks and learned that unauthorized transactions were made on Mr. C’s credit card at four locations on October 17th:

34th Street EZ Way Drive Thru in Winter Haven at 10:11 a.m.

Walgreens – Havendale Blvd in Auburndale at 10:32 a.m.

CVS – Magnolia Avenue in Auburndale at 10:49 a.m.

Dollar General on Havendale Blvd in Auburndale at 10:57 a.m.

Our suspect purchased hundreds of dollars’ worth of gift cards with the stolen credit card. Early Christmas shopping? Don’t know, don’t care. What we do care about is finding him.

Our detective, as detectives are wont to do, sought out some evidence and came up with security video from one of the stores that shows our suspect in action.

It is our hope that someone will recognize this man. His shirt seems rather unique, perhaps someone will recognize that. If you have any information regarding this crime, please contact Detective Kinsey at 863-297-1100, or to remain anonymous, contact Heartland Crime Stoppers - call 1-800-226 TIPS (8477), visit the website www.heartlandcrimestoppers.com and click on
